Review: Taliah Waajid's Crinkles and Curls

8:29 AM

With more length come gravity and the ability to maintain any sort of curls for a long period of time. I hope with the purchase of a settling lotion( Taliah Waajid Crinkles & Curls ) my curls & crinkle styles would last longer. I dabble with Taliah Waajid product before and I knew she makes really good products. I still use the kid detangler for my daughter hair, but I must admit that I still a bit surprised on how wonderful the Crinkles & Curls turn out to be. Below is a review of that product after using it multiplying times for different styles.

For a settling lotion, I totally believe I made the right choice. I LOVE the fact that this product comes out in a foam format, and not liquid format. You do not have to get an additional spraying bottle or have to worry about diluting this solution. Another plus was the fact that it dampen your locks perfectly without making it dripping wet, which of course lead to faster drying time. This settling lotion foaming action is such a clever way to prep your locks for longer lasting style. Below are my likes and dislike of the Taliah Waajid Crinkles & Curls

Claims
Flake-free concentrated setting lotion formulated to hold natural hairstyles in place longer. Great for straw sets, two-strand twist sets and locks styling sets. Can also be used on chemically relaxed hair.

Like
- Love the Pina Colada Smell
- LOVE the Foam concept
- Very Easy to Apply
- Doesn't Cause Build Up
- Foam dries off CLEAR
- Hold my Crinkles & Curls longer

Dislike
- The Cost ($11 at Amazon)
- The Availability (Not available at my local store)
- I was hoping this settling lotion would soften my braid out but it didn't (it feels the same when I just apply regular water).

My likes for this product far out weight my dislike, and I highly recommend this product if you looking for a settling lotion. If you have an issue with the cost, then I suggestion trying Lottabody or Motions Wrap Lotion.

  2. Cool review! TW Curls & Crinkles is my staple product. I have used the setting lotion for 3 yrs now. When i wash my hair I use the setting lotion to hold my curl and give me plenty of body. I twist my hair in sections and let air dry. I will NEVER go without this stuff. I purchase mine from the taliah Waajids website. To save money I buy the 32oz which lasts a long time. It's $23. I'm still using the bottle that I purchased almost a year ago! I also use this product on my clients.

  3. @Jai - This is my first time hearing about Motion Forming. Anything that comes out in a form format is a plus in my book. That product also doesn’t look expensive so I will update this post to offer that as an option for a settling lotion. Thanks for the info.

@Naturally I really love this product, so I foresee me getting the 32oz bottle as well! I'm really enjoying using this on my sisterlocks. Thanks for sharing your input because I'm sure you be helping others as well with your feedback.

  5. This is really interesting. I have been thinking about setting lotion for a while because I love to wear my Sisterlocks curly. I'm not sure that my hair can withstand it yet because I still have open, curly ends. What do you think?

  6. @Woman Inside I think we are lock around the same time, so I can only imagine what you are going through. You should try this out for sure. Thanks for your comment :).

@Terez You can apply this to your locks without any issue. You can use this vs. using water to curl or add crinkles to your locks. This solution will not unraveling your locks at all. In fact, this solution should offer you more protection since it doesn't require much to have your locks curly (unlike maybe accidently wetting your locks to much with a spray bottle).

  7. My sister locks are about 7 inches from my butt. I love the curly look, but because of the length and weight curls do not even last 1 hour. I have used LOTTA BODY, which worked great when my hair was shorter (shoulder length). The curls would last a couple days. And I used to just roll it up after washing and the curls would last, 1 day. Do you think the "Crinkle and Curl" foam would work well with my long length sister locks?

    1. Because of the length of your sisterlocks, maintaining loose curls will be difficult. What you need to do is use this product, and curl your hair with pipe cleaners, which will produce super tight curls that will loosen during the week and that way your curls will last longer. I hope this information help. I have a pipe cleaner tutorial here just search for it in the bottom.
