About Me

Bio
Name is Sheila and I was born and raised in South Florida to Haitian parents. I originally grew up in Miami, but things weren't economically and socially looking good for us there. So my mom pack us up (my brothers and I), and moved us to Fort Lauderdale, Fl. There I decided to change my life around for the good, and end up being the first member of my family to attend college.

Growing up in Fort Lauderdale was a challenging time for me.I had to re-teach myself on how to write properly, since I sucked at writing, and till this day I'm still struggle to express myself through my writing (grammatically etc.).

I was very much a tom boy growing up, and I think it was due to me being very insecure about my looks. It was during the end of High School and College that I really started wearing dresses and skirts. I used to love dressing up during my college days but when I had my beautiful daughter though, I started dressing her and neglecting me in the process. Well that changed recently, and now we both enjoy shopping and dressing each other up. She also happens to enjoys traveling as much as I do, and wants to rock Sisterlocks in the near future as well.

Stat about Me
Due to my parents upbringing, I tend to be very respectful to everyone I meet or talk to (unless you are rude). Someone once called me the “gentle” giant and I have to say that name totally fits, I’m 5’8 and when I wear heels (which I love) I tend to be anywhere between 5’11 to 6’2. I currently work as a web and graphic designer, and go figure that I hardly do anything graphical/design related to this blog. To read more about me and see my goofy side, check out this post, its pretty funny I think lol.  If you curious about my sisterlocks (how many I have), on the very bottom of this blog is a quick stat detailing everything.

Blog
The name originated from the word "Creole" and I originally wanted my blog name to be "Creola Sisterlocks Journey", but that was taken by another blogger, then I tried Creyole, and that too was taken. So I change the "C" to a "K" and ending the final name with an "a". That ladies and gentlemen, is how the name Kreyola came about.

Kreyola’s Journeys (formally known as Kreyola’s Sisterlocks Journey) was first started to document my Sisterlocks journey, but as my locks grew longer and more matured, I started to have fewer topics to blog about. I then started to document my travels, which I always wanted to do anyway, and eventually I started to blog about my adventure into fashion, makeup etc. This is how Kreyola’s Journeys finally came about.

Why
I looked at my blogging as a journey of self-discovery, because as I continue to grow, this blog continues to changes, and I'm a firm believer that no matter what you have been through, you can only turn out to for the better.

I have seen growth within myself while blogging, and that is why I continue to blog. So in conclusion, I would like to thank all of my old followers and new, for following me through-out the years, and I hope you continued to follow me on my new journey of self-discovery.

Contact
I have always tried to respond to every single comment on my blog, but I had to change that recently due to increase awareness, but I'm extremely grateful that you took the time to comment on any of my posts. So if you happen to leave questions, I may not respond right away, but I WILL respond!

Xoxo
