What I Wore: Marilyn Monroe

10:24 AM

Ladies and Gentlemen, this skirt was truly an out of my element purchase. I love the vintage look that is coming into trend now, but I have to admit that I'm still a little nervous about wearing them. When I saw this shirt, I instantly thought about this vintage style skirt I had at home, and decided right then and there to purchase it. I thought this shirt would match the vintage look but also tone down the dressiness of this skirt for work.

Even though Marilyn Monroe wasn't a saint, and I'm nowhere perfect to judge, her quotes always give me comfort in the past. Plus I like the fact she had a brain and to me seem very human. She owned over 400 books, including Tolstoy and Whitman and listened to Beethoven. So to me, she wasn't just a beauty, she was also very smart (she had an IQ of 168*).  It is just sad that back then she had to be portrayed as a dumb blond girl in order to be successful in her career.

*There are debates on whether Marilyn Monroe IQ is that high, but I like to think she has an high IQ. IQ is not a test for how smart you are, it more of a test to show how an individual can have an increasing intelligence over time, and have a higher capability to learn compare to others.

One quote from Marilyn Monroe that motivates me till this day is “Just because you fail once doesn't mean you're gonna fail at everything.”

  25. Hey Sis always figured that you were a MENSA girl! Think you're right about her IQ ... she had so many remarkable quotes! Some of her aphorisms rivaled the whit Mark Twain and Will Rodgers to mention a few ... not that I really know what aphorism means??? o_O LMBO I like "It's not true I had nothing on. I had the radio on"

Oh and Gurl, you Really Killed it! Marilyn would have Loved it! ;) Classy, Classy and Classy! I know a little about art ... you know more about Classy and I'm not just talking about hair, makeup or fashion ... I'm talking about being a down to earth Elegant Lady and Best Friend anyone could ever wish for! =D

Love ya, Sis! God Bless! Have an Awesome Day! =D

    1. You having me blushing over here...you need to stop LOL. Some people just can't believe she had a higher IQ then Albert Einstein because they associate high IQ with being smart. Most people don't even know what IQ testing is all about and they are arguing...crazy I tell you.

Have a nice day Cheri...miss you interaction a lot LOL.

    2. Okay I'll stop leaving comments ... LMBO Not a chance with my BIG mouth o_O

Well I have to disagree with you ... just kidding. You're right! Especially guys and a lot of girls too get intimidated by an Intelligent conversation with a woman ... crabs in a barrel :( Dang that's just messed up!

Noticed you sidestepped the MENSA part! ;) LOL A little desecration/humbleness is a Very Good thing! I apologize for getting on you about shyness, I do understand! Hard to believe it now but I was petrified to interact/engage in conversations ... So yeah Missed you too!

Until, Have a Blushing Day! =D
