Beauty: Let's Talk About Concealers

7:30 AM

Hehe...This is Just an Example :p
As I continue to learn and grow as far as my makeup skill is concern, I will continue to rage about concealers in general, especially if you have dark circles or dark discolorations.

In the beginning when I first started using concealers, I used them primary underneath my eye area only. Now I use concealer to highlight my forehead, shape my eyebrows, and highlight my nose area, as shown via the picture on the right.

Below I decided to do a review on a new addition, as well as compare it my old, but still favorite concealer.

Mac Pro Longwear Concealer (NW 45)

Like
- Long Lasting
- Correct the Dark Circles & Blemishes
- Very Natural Looking
- NOT Cakey
- No Ance
- More of a Healthy Glow

Dislike
- Looks Horrible in "Flash" Photographs

USES: Daytime Wear Only (Everyday). Recommend Using Blushes.

Note: I consider going two shades lighter for Immediate Makeup Users.  Blending your foundation with your concealer is a very important step, so I recommend newbies to go ONE shade lighter.

I also found that blushes really help connect the "two shade lighter" concealer with the foundation. As you will soon find out, the lighter the concealers, the more dramatic the final look is going to be. The guru will always recommended to go two shade lighter then your actual shades, to see any type of highlights.

Right now I'm loving how I look when I'm using this concealer. It really does look great for work and just regular outing. Just try to avoid using the flash on your camera when taking your photos. That is when you notice that the fact that you wearing two shades on your face (learn that the hard way -_-).

-N/A

USES: Everyday (Day or Night)

Conclusion:  NW 50 Concealer is one shade lighter then my skin tone, and I really do appreciate how MAC has done its numbering system of their products. I wear NW 50 Foundation, and you would think this concealer would be the same color, but that is not the case. This product is actually one shade lighter then my skin tone, and as you can take from the numbering of NW 45, my newest addition is two shade lighter then my skin tone.

I never use NW 45 to shape my brows, and that is because I found it to be to light. I ONLY use NW 50 for my eyebrows when I decide to use NW 45 for my under eye area etc.

WARNING: Do not get addicted to makeup, now I rarely walk out the door without wearing at least a concealer, below example was just me PMSing. I didn't want to wearing anything that day, and I later regretted not using a concealer after viewing the "before" pictures haha :D.

  2. My word, you really have AMAZING makeup skills!! (And good tip about what not to use with flash photography! I've had friends have some pretty embarrassing experiences with that!) Love the review on these concealers. I'm currently testing out Maybelline Age Rewind and so far, so good. (Although it's not rewinding my age...unfortunately! Ha ha.)

  5. I have both and I prefer the pro longwear. I apply mine with a beauty blender, to avoid a cakey look.

  9. I don't use concealer at the moment and I am still getting used to the skills of make-up application. I like the way you applied yours in the "After" photo; very beautiful and effortless application. And thanks for showing the "Before" picture too; your natural beauty and radiant smile shows through.

  12. Interesting how flash can make us look unnatural sometimes even when we're not wearing make up...not to say anything of the fact that the flash can reveal our undergarments even if the clothes we're wearing isn't at all transparent....who invented the flash anyway?:)

This got me thinking that I should learn how to use concealers. It is always good to have decent make up skills. That way we actually have an option, I mean when somebody doesn't know how to use a certain make up product that there is no alternative to sans make up look sometimes.
