Today marks my six-year Sisterlocks anniversary and it came out of nowhere. Now I truly understand why Sisterlocks bloggers at my length just disappear. Anyhow, here is the latest update regarding my Sisterlocks.

Washing
I still wash my Sisterlocks every 1-2 week, depending on my activity level. The only difference now is that I tend to wash and shampoo closer to the scalp now during the first half of the month, and by the end of the month (retighten day) I wash the full length of my locks. This save time, and money because the lower ends tends not to get dirty as much, and also tends to get super dry if I over clean it.

Styling
Other than the different range of style you see in the What I Wore series, I don't do much with my hair. I'm lazy, and I honestly couldn't be bothered to do curls or do braid-outs with this current length. In fact, the time and efforts it takes with this length is seriously making me wish when my Sisterlocks was shorter. I'm just letting my hair grow mid-back as a commitment/goal to myself.

This blog has come a LONG way from how I ended my last Anniversary. The best and most meaningful improvement was my makeup application and skill. Since today is my Sisterlocks Anniversary, I want to update you on my Sisterlocks. I don't know if you notice, most likely you did, my hair styling edition has taking a back seat. Not by choice I assure you. My hair is growing back fully in the middle now, and right now I'm just patiently waiting for them to get to a decent length to start styling them again. The overall length is perfect now, and soon I may be trimming them since their are almost at my ideal length. Below is a close up of my Sisterlocks at 5 Years. I have a lot of posts about my Sisterlocks journey, and I think I pretty much cover everything I could about Sisterlocks, but if you have something you want me to talk about or even to research, let me know. This is 3rd year photo. My sisterlocks appears to still be in the SHOOTING PHASE or Adult Stage still. Not much to brag about as far as growth is concern.


Year 2
I decided to just compare from last year, and as you can see, my locks just grew more evenly, and it currently not at the shoulder length I was hoping for (unstretch).


Year 3
The back has grown more evenly as well. Look more thicker then last year for sure. The back right now bend constantly and just pokes my neck.



Year 2
I see a lot more fizzyness in this pictures vs this year for sure.


Unhealthy Thinning Hair
My hair went through some major thinning years ago, and this is the before picture of one of the area. I took Biotin, and Jamaican Castor Oil & Other EO to combat this. You can find the recipe for hair growth here.


Healthy Hair Once Again
Thin area is getting ticker and healthier again at year 3. My grid is looking better every time I go for a new retighten so I assume my consultant is trying to maintain it as much as possible. Love her!


Looser Hair At The Back
This took close to three years to lock. This is a before pictures of the back of my head. I had so much issue with the back of my hair with it constant unraveling and slippages.


Finally LOCKING
The back of my hair at year 3. It is finally locking.. hooray. Less slippages and unraveling means less time in the chair. All smile over here.



Straight Parts (Grid)
Grid pattern & part are still intact after 3 years. The square are more apparent when I just had a retighten done.

This year was a lot less eventful then last year. The only issue that is worth mentioning is my thinning hair, as well as finding out I have Telogen Effluvium (Alopecia). I was able to stop the issue with thinning hair by taking Multivitamin, Biotin, and ReGrow Massage Oil . I also became very active at the GYM which helped relieve some of the stress I had going on. Today I just want to mark my anniversary with some comparison shots, my current maintenance routine, as well as a realistic goal for my next anniversary. Once again I would like to thank everyone for following me and commenting on my blog posts.

Growth & More End Buds My side doesn’t show nearly as much growth as the back.The back of my hair has always been looser and the growth is very apparent.

My Current Product for Maintaining My Sisterlocks I receive great results with what I have now and will continue to use them as needed. I haven't used my sisterlocks moisture treatment for a while now, and that is mostly due to the humidity in Florida.

I had a poll on the right hand side of my blog  asking about what topic you would like to read more of. The poll is now closed and it was a tie between "...don't change" and "more style".  I will leave my topics as is, and try to include more styling post from now on. I will be adding another poll again two month prior to my next anniversary.

I'm happy to say that I'm officially 1 year locks. This journey has been that, a journey of discovery, and empowerment. I have learned many things through this journey, some I never dreamed or thought was possible, like me having the perfect hair for Sisterlocks. I always thought my hair was the "bad" hair, and that my hair would never really grow to the length that I have always wanted. So to hear my hair was perfect for Sisterlocks was a moving moment for me. Learning that I have two different hair types (which is common from what I have read & learned) was quite a shocker as well. Now I wish my hair was "bad" all over, so I can be fully locked =).

My sisterlocks journey have not been uneventful. I have thing that I do dislike about it. Like the roughness of my hair earlier in the locking transitions, and trying to find solution to reduce, if not eliminate the issue. I also did some mistake that end up causing me a bunch of unraveling locks, which of course, cause longer retighten time. All in all, I really did enjoy my first year of being locked. I look forward to next year, and being able to compare and see how my hair has progress. I did another YouTube video to celebrate my anniversary as well.

Goal for Next Year Anniversary

1. I want my hair to be completely locked
2. I would like to hopefully be able to dye my hair any color that I want
3. I would love to have shoulder length locked by then.
