Saint Lucia: The Island Vibe & The Pitons

10:05 PM

With the exception of some turbulence, the plane ride went smoothly. When we finally arrived in Saint Lucia, I was surprised at how hilly it was. I guess I'm just used to Florida and our mostly flat landscape. The checkout process went smoothly, but please notes that if you are visiting family member, make sure they give you an address of where you be staying at. Once I was out of custom, the fun began.

I thought the plane ride would have scared me the most, but no, I tell you what nearly scared me to death. The drive!!! Keep in mind I'm from Florida, which is very much a flat land, with NO hills what so ever. So I was not expecting the hill or the twist and turn that soon followed. My pick up came, and the driver had me clutching to the door handle the WHOLE time. The twist turns, and climbs, at speed of 50 mph was beyond CRAZY to me. I had to tell the driver to slow down at the turn or I would have literally freaked out. Also the roads were sooo narrow, and the cars drove pass (with little more than two inch of space) with no fear what so ever. In the end, I finally arrived at my destination, and I breathe a sigh of relief, and thank the lord for keeping me safe that day.

Example of the roads there
The first three days were kind of laid back due to the heavy rain. I went into town, chill, and walk around with the locals. The sound, the sights were very different from how it is in the States. Some of the vendors there were on the sidewalk, and they were selling all kind of goodies. The goods range from clothes, fruits, vegetables, and even tasty treats. It was very interesting to see that, since I'm not used to seeing that back home.

It rains a lot during my stay in Saint Lucia, and that kind of cut into the sightseeing I wanted to do. I also learn that Hurricane Tomas did quite a number on the island, and many people were killed via land & mud slide. So that kind of made the road and access to some of the activities or landmark difficult.

The humidity there was quite strong so none of my braid-out or curls last more than a couple of hours there. I also notice that sisterlocks weren't common there, so I did receive a lot of stare, and are you crazy look.

Below are my favorite pictures from my trip.
