Review: The Real Down Low on Oil Control Products (MAC & bareMinerals) & M.A.C Primer

8:58 AM

****Special Note*****
This is consider an essential for me, but I decided to separate the primer & bloating paper from my other "everyday makeup" post because not many people battle super oily skin like me. So what I consider an essential to me, may not be to you.

Now that I'm look back on previous posts, and now onto this post, I use a lot of stuff to keep my makeup looking flawless (*sigh*). If you have extremely oily skin like me, below is what helps me retain decently looking makeup throughout the day. The only two products you need is a Primer and bloating paper if you happen to have oily skins like me. Note: I will continue to try to find products that keep my makeup looking matted all day, because the primer and bloating paper helps, but I want something that doesn't require me to dabble all day.

Below reviews are on four products, and the main reasons I decided to share them all was for the ladies that suffers from really oily skin like myself. If you have really oily skins, please don't let anyone tell you that you need to get an oil control moisturizer. You only need two products, and that is the Primer & Blotting Papers (and maybe a Mattifying Powder, I don't have one yet. but will let you know if it is needed in the future).

Primer is used to fill in the wrinkle lines, bumps, or any pores etc. by making your face a clean blank canvas. I found this primer is the only thing I need for my extremely oily skin. It helps smooth out my skin for a more flawless looking foundation. This is the ONLY product you need if you have extremely oily skin. Even though your face gets oily, this help the makeup stay put when you do get oily.

I think I got screwed over when I purchase this one years ago (this doesn't even advertise as an oil controller). I told the sale lady that I have extremely oily skin; she still sold me the above product saying I needed it. This product made me stay away from putting foundation on my skin for a while. Click here to see an example of me wearing this and the bareMineral foundation on a company outing (I was so embarrassed on how oily my skin got ugh)

My last purchased of an oil control moisturizer was from M.A.C. and I can't believe I thought this product was going to work a freaky miracle....ugh. The product says "Oil Control” and I believe that what this product needs to do....right???? I have tried using as directed, and I have try using very little of this product, and I still got the same result - oily skin (see first picture example below). The only different from my oil skin issue from the past vs. now is that my makeup holds up. I’m love M.A.C. products but this one was a big time failure.

The Really Low Down on Oil Control Moisturizer for Oily Skins

I have extremely oily skins when wearing foundation and I have been battling this issue all of my life. Whenever I use any type of foundation, my face becomes an oily mess. I totally believe my face goes on the defense and literally tries to attack whatever foundation I have on. The attack usually involves my foundation trying to slide off by mid-day.

I have tried three products that supposed to control my oily skin (another one was from IMAN), and to tell you the truth, they don't do jack shit, and it pisses me off when people try to explain to me how you need this to control the oils underneath your foundation. If you have extremely oily skin, you don't need a moisturizer. You just don't! So repeat after me, if someone tries to sell you an oil control moisturizer, don't get it. You just don't need it; all you need is some blotting paper to blot your skin during the day (see below). If your skin is like mines, no matter what you do, when you apply your foundation, your skin will get oily skin. Note: I have some dry area on my face (around my month), I just apply a small moisturizer (any will do) and that is it!

Clean & Clear’s Oil Absorbing SHEETS

Claims
Oil Absorbing Sheets soak up excess oil from your face without smudging makeup or leaving behind a residue. Softer than paper, these silky smooth sheets can be used easily around your nose and other areas of your face.

Like
- Pick Up The Excessive Oils
- Doesn't Smudge My Makeup
- They Are Soft and Silky
- Leaves My Skin Feeling Clean & Dry

Dislike
- N/A

I have not tried many bloating papers to tell you the truth, and I'm sure they may be better ones out there, but for my purpose, these works great!!! They don't smudgy my makeup and the work great in humidly. I ran out of the above, but I always make sure to have an alternative version in my bags when I need to blot the oils from my skin.

Conclusion: For ladies that have oily skin, we are still blessed because if I remembered reading correctly, are skin tends to remain youthful for a longer period of time due to our oily skin. The downside of oily skin is that we have to deal with the over productions of it when we wear foundation. As long as you have a good primer and bloating paper, you will be fine.

    1. Thanks!! I'm sure you are aware of oily skin :( I have two products I want to try, but they are expensive, and I really will be upset if these don’t work either. Still doing research, so we will see.
